bonefish

My lab and collaborators have conducted research on bonefish for over 20 years and in every ocean that bonefish reside in. To date, we have studied bonefish in The Bahamas, The Turks & Caicos Islands, Puerto Rico, Kiribati, French Polynesia, and The Seychelles. Some of our work has focused on the broad and fine-scale movement patterns and behavior of bonefish, including where and how bonefish spawn. We have also shed light on how bonefish respond to temperature extremes, their energetics, and age and growth. Our lab has also identified the essential habitat for juvenile bonefish (Albula vulpes) in The Bahamas. When it comes to the science of catch-and-release, our group has examined the physical and physiological impacts of capture and handling, as well as what contributes to post-release survival, including predation
